The Vaughan Street Jail tour is not intended for young children, discussing some rather dark parts of history, from crime and punishment to violence and abuse. Many adults find the basement, with jail cells, an unsettling space to enter. Please use your discretion when deciding whether or not to bring young children.
Would it be possible to access the Vaughan Street Jail on a day other than Doors Open Winnipeg?
No. The Vaughan Street Jail is only open to the public for Doors Open Winnipeg. The owners do not allow anyone into the building on any other day for any other reason. No school field trips, corporate tours, film production, photo shoots, paranormal investigations or any other activity.

Where can I get a copy of the Doors Open Winnipeg program?
The Doors Open Winnipeg program is available at the Heritage Winnipeg Office (509-63 Albert Street), the Millennium Library (251 Donald Street) and Travel Manitoba (21 Forks Market Road) during the week leading up to the event. It is also sent out to all home subscribers of the Winnipeg Free Press on the Thursday prior to Doors Open Winnipeg. A downloadable copy of the program will be made available on the Doors Open Winnipeg website in mid-May.
