Presbyterian ‘Selkirk Settlers’- arrived at Red River in the early 1800’s from the ‘Highlands of Scotland’ a direct result of the land ‘Clearances’ in their homelands. They established their new settlement known as ‘Kildonan’ that stretched from the Forks northward along the Red River. This settlement area was outlined in the ‘1817 Selkirk Treaty’. It became the formal references for land usage going forward to the modern City of Winnipeg. Their leaders played significant roles in the early development of the Province of Manitoba. Join us for an Historical tour of their original cemetery.
