The Costume Museum is opening its “Doors to the Past” showing clothing and attire, some worn centuries ago. You will see some shattered silk on an opera cloak revealing its age and beauty! Some of garments that are in the collection were once worn for the historic fashion review shows. As time went on replicas of these originals were designed and sewn by the students in the Faculty of Home Economics. Some of these are historical now and are on display next to the originals. A gown to see from 1765 – think Marie Antoinette when she was the Queen of France! Join us as we celebrated the 70th anniversary of the first Historic Fashion Review show which in 1953 was the forerunner of the Dugald Costume Museum, now the Costume Museum of Canada.
Please note the building is wheelchair accessible by way of a ramp at the south door closest to Toad Hall Toys.
