This tour focuses on the art, architecture and activism that defines what we call North End Spirit. Topics explored include the founding of Winnipeg, the Winnipeg General Strike and Idle No More. Tour will also highlight notable North Enders, artists and social movements. Starting at Selkirk Avenue and Powers Street at the North End Bell Tower, continuing west to The Palace Theatre, Merchants Corner and finishing at the Ukrainian Labour Temple where beginning at 12 noon on Saturday May 30th is the 3rd Annual North End Neighbours Culture Fest is happening until 4:00pm. Please note the tour does NOT go inside any of the buildings.
Guided walking tour will start at 11:00am, beginning from the Bell Tower at the intersection of Selkirk Avenue and Powers Street and finishing at the Ukrainian Labour Temple (591 Pritchard Avenue). Tours will be 60 minutes in length. Volunteers from North End History will also be on site to share knowledge and answer questions. No registration required!
Outdoor events will be cancelled in the case of heavy rain or thunderstorms. Indoor events will proceed regardless of the weather. Weather related cancellations will NOT be posted.
