The Dominion Express Building (1904) was designed by John Woodman whose other notable architectural works include Eaton’s Warehouse (’04) and the Grace Hospital (’05). There had been a number of large fires in downtown in the early 1900’s and as a result the architect of this building was tasked with making the building fire-proof, therefore the Dominion Express Building was constructed of brick walls and steel I-beams encased in concrete. The wagons were stored on the main floor and the horses were stabled on the second floor, climbing a concrete ramp to get to the second floor.

On both days guided tours will run every 30 minutes starting at 12:00pm, with the last tour departing at 4:00pm. Tours will be approximately 20 minutes in length with a maximum 8 guests. Registration is required! Registration opens Saturday, May 17th at noon through the link provided below.
