The Dominion Express Company built Canada’s most modern stable at 108 Alexander in 1904 to house the horses and wagons used to deliver goods in the growing city of Winnipeg. In 1909 a third storey was added to accomodate the expansion and the building further expanded through the 1920’s and 1930’s extending to Pacific Avenue. The front of the space has been transformed into a cocktail bar outfitted with beautiful stained glass and oak panelling from the St. Regis Hotel. The oak was fabricated in Chicago and shipped to Winnipeg in 1911 and salvaged in 2017 before the demolition of the hotel.
