Essar Avenue at Kildonan Drive

May 25th, 2024
Saturday: 11:00am

On this tour we are in a quiet little gem of a neighbourhood. We will hear the ‘tale of two bridges’, a history of the Kildonan Canoe Club circa 1930, the North Kildonan Municipality office and the Reeve S.R. Henderson who is the namesake of Henderson Hwy. We will end with a short walk under Kildonan Settler Bridge to hear the stories of Chief Peguis Trail, the Matheson Millstones and the outlet of McLeod Creek (our area ‘ghost creek’) and where if empties into the mighty Red River. We will have maps, old newspapers and assorted area information where the walk begins.

Please note the tour is wheelchair accessible but sidewalks may be in poor condition and challenging to navigate.

Guided tour will start at 11:00am, departing from the corner of Essar Avenue at Kildonan Drive and concluding nearby. Tour will be approximately 60 minutes in length. No registration required!

In regards to the weather: Outdoor events will go on as scheduled if there is light rain. Outdoor events will be cancelled if there are heavy downpours or thunderstorms. Cancellations will NOT be posted.
