Luxton Avenue & St. Cross Street

May 24th, 2025 & May 25th, 2025
Saturday: 1:00pm
Sunday: 1:00pm

Step back in time to 75 years ago, when the Red River flooded Winnipeg’s Scotia area and the community was forced into an urgent fight to save homes, streets, and families. Led by Kenneth Ingram, President of the Seven Oaks Historical Society, this tour shares the stories of the people who lived through the disaster and how both the neighborhood and city responded to one of Winnipeg’s greatest emergencies.

Throughout the tour, large visual materials will help bring the past to life, offering a glimpse at how the area looked in 1950 as residents faced the rising waters.

Please note the tour is wheelchair accessible but sidewalks may be in poor condition and challenging to navigate.

On both days guided tours will start at 1:00pm, departing from the intersection of Luxton Avenue and St. Cross Street and finishing at the intersection of Seven Oaks Avenue and Scotia Street. Tour will be approximately 60 minutes in length and include several kilometers of walking. No registration required!

In regards to the weather: Outdoor events will go on as scheduled if there is light rain. Outdoor events will be cancelled if there are heavy downpours or thunderstorms. Cancellations will NOT be posted.
